Method I    Using Acrylic Paint

Supplies:

            Latex Rubber

            Mat Acrylic Paint **Desired Color

            Vinegar (Acetic Acid)

            Water ***Ammonia if possible

 

  1. Prep Mask with Acetic Acid (Vinegar)-Spray On and allow to dry or tap dry with paper towel to speed cure.  This helps to prime latex for better paint adhesion.
  2. Next, Blend Latex with Acrylic Paint
    • 50/50 Mix with Mat Acrylic Paint   *Suggestion:  Lowes' Behr Interior Mat Acrylic Paint ***Adjust mix ratio according to Latex's Viscosity (Liquid Thickness)
    • Screen the Blend to ensure a uniform, consistent mixture with no lumps.
  3. For Sprayable Mix  
    • Mix, again, with 50/50 with Water or Water/Ammonia Mix  ***Adjust mix ratio according to Latex's Viscosity (Liquid Thickness).

 

 


 

Method II   Using Rubber Cement

Supplies:

            Latex Rubber

            Rubber Cement

            Silicone Pigment  Or  Modeler's Acrylic Paint

            Solvent Thinner-Xylene

 

  1. Prep Mask with Acetic Acid (Vinegar)-Spray On and allow to dry or tap dry with paper towel to speed cure.  This helps to prime latex for better paint adhesion.
  2. Next, Blend Rubber Cement with desired Silicone Pigment Or  Modeler's Acrylic Paint
    • Typically, mix no more than 2-3% of Silicone Pigment to Total Weight of Latex rubber-Silicone  Pigments are very concentrated. 
  3. Then, Adjust Thickness of Mix with Solvent-Xylene.  This helps to expedite the cure of rubber cement. 
    • 50/50 Mix with Solvent  ***Adjust mix ratio according to Latex's Viscosity (Liquid Thickness)
